The Petersham Wood Bank will hold a firewood processing workbee at the Petersham Transfer Station on Sunday, September 17th from 8 am to noon.

To both help residents in need and make better use of a sometimes overabundant resource, Petersham began a community wood bank 4 years ago.  Wood that is cut by town crews as part of maintenance of public land and rights of way is cut up, split and distributed to community members in need by local volunteers.

At the September 17th workbee, volunteers will help split and stack wood into crates to season and then be distributed.

To take part, volunteers should wear appropriate clothing including long pants and boots, ear plugs and muffs and bring lunch and water to drink.

Directions to the Transfer Station:  From Route 202 turn onto Route 122/32 towards Petersham.  Head about 7ish miles down and the transfer station will be on your right.  If you get to the blinking light at West Street you’ve gone past it.
