The Rhode Island Forest Conservators Organization is sponsoring 2 one day sessions of the Game of Logging Level I training program, conducted by GOL-certified trainer Bill Girard.
One session will be held on November 3rd tailored to the novice chain saw user, and a second session on November 10th will be tailored to the professional woods operators.
Level 1 focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength.
The sessions will each be held on the Maguire Tree Farm located at the end of Maguire Lane, off Fry Pond Road, in West Greenwich, RI. The sessions will run from 8 am until 4 pm. Attendees must register, and the registration fee is $150. Refreshments will be provided, but participants should bring their own lunch.
