The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Service Forestry Program will hold a workshop for licensed timber harvesters on Chapter 132 Forest Cutting Practices regulations at Big Elm Brewing in Sheffield on June 20th from 3 to 6 pm.

Licensed harvesters are required to take 9 hours of continuing education every three years to maintain their license, including 3 hours on Massachusetts forestry laws and regulations.  Attending one of the DCR workshops will meet the 3 hour forestry laws and regulations requirement.

Workshop will discuss Land Clearing and Timber Harvesting; How to permit mixed land use activities; When to file a Ch. 132 Cutting Plan and/or Ch. 131 Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) or Notice of Intent (NOI). Presentation of local project by Emily Stockman of Stockman Associates LLC, and Al Thorpe of Accord Engineering and Surveying LLC, and James W. Kelly, consulting forester.
