The Department of Conservation & Recreation will hold a Forest Cutting Practices workshop for licensed timber harvesters at the Athol Public Library at 568 Main Street in Athol on June 11th from 2 to 5 p.m.

The workshop will include a review of the rules and regulations governing timber harvesting under MGL Chapter 132, the Forest Cutting Practices Act, and the use of BMPs in harvesting, as well as a discussion of red oak silviculture and fire.

This workshop will meet the requirement that harvesters must take a 3-hour refresher on Massachusetts forestry laws and regulations at least once every 3 years.
