UNH Extension and New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association will hold a Forest Thinning with Brush Saws workshop on November 5th in Lancaster, NH.

This workshop is focused on Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) where small trees are cut to make way for more desirable trees to grow.

The workshop will cover:

  • Why do we do this?
  • Who pays for forest thinning?
  • How much can I make?
  • Selecting a saw
  • Techniques for efficient work
  • Safety
  • Maintenance of saw and blades

Hardhats and Safety glasses are required (we will have some if you let us know ahead). Ear protection is recommended.

The workshop will be held at Falkenham Family Forest in Lancaster (one mile down Flaherty Road), beginning at 9 a.m. and running until noon.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the NHTOA, Coos County Conservation District, DirtTreesWildlife.org, DTM Small Engine Repair, ForestCover Forestry, Longview Forestry, New England Forestry Consultants, UNH Extension, and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
