The Warren County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold a Forestry Best Management Practices and Skidder Bridge Workshop in Wilmington, NY on November 17th from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Station #1 (1 hour) – (Rebecca Smith, NY DEC and Ted Wright, Master Logger Certification Program & The Trust to Conserve Northeast Forestlands)
Temporary Bridge Crossing –
– permitting requirements (temporary crossing for logging, wetlands, permanent roads, etc.) – Rebecca Smith
– planning, placement, etc. Learn about installing, using, and closing out a stream crossing using a temporary bridge-Ted Wright
Station #2 (1 hour)- (EJ Prescott, Mike Everhart; SWCD, Deb Boyce, Northwoods Forest Consultants, LLC)
– Erosion & Sediment Control Products for Timber Harvest Operations and Forestry BMP’s and harvest closeout
10:30 – 11:00 am – Head to the bridge building location (Ward Pine Mill – 702 Glen Road Jay, NY)
11 am Station #3 (1 hour) – (Kaleigh Zappia – NYSDEC Spill Response and Prevention
– Reporting, containing, and cleaning up spills. Information will cover preventing spills as well as disposing of contaminated materials.
Lunch 12:00-1:00 PM – Lunch – provided onsite
1:00 – 3:00 PM – (Dennis Flynn Environmental Conservation & Forestry CTE Instructor, WSWHE BOCES)
– Constructing a Portable Skidder Bridge
3:15 – 3:30 PM – Skidder Bridge & ESC Supply Raffle to a logger in attendance.
3:30 PM – Wrap up & depart
