UMass Extension’s Landscape, Nursery & Urban Forestry Program will hold a Glyphosphate 411 weedinar on April 7th from 9 am to noon.

The herbicide glyphosate has received a fair amount of attention in recent years. This program will discuss the science behind glyphosate use and the environmental and health concerns. If you attended the glyphosate weedinar in October, new information will be discussed.

Agenda

 9 – 10 am                     Glyphosate Use Patterns in Agriculture and the Green Industry and Potential Alternatives  Randy Prostak, UMass Extension Weed Specialist

This presentation will give an overview of the most common use patterns of glyphosate in Massachusetts agriculture and the green industry. Potential alternatives to glyphosate will be discussed.

10:30 am-noon         Glyphosate: A Regulatory Perspective  Hotze Wijnja, Environmental Chemist, Mass. Dept. of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) Pesticide Program

This regulatory review presentation will provide an overview of the registration history and use of glyphosate, environmental fate and toxicity, ecological and human health risk assessments, and recent regulatory reviews and updates.
Credits

 

Pesticide credits: 3 pesticide contact hours available for all private categories, 33, 36, 37, 39, 40, Dealer, and Applicators License (core) available. These credits are valid for all New England states for equivalent categories.

Association credits: 2.5 ISA, 1 MCA, 1 MCLP, and 1 MCH available.
