The Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association will hold a 90 minute Old Forests: What They Are, Why They’re Important, and Opportunities for Management online program on January 31st from 7 to 8:30 pm

Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation will present a discussion about old forests in the Northeast. He’ll explore what old forests look like (it may surprise you!), why they should be important to us, and how we can actively manage existing forests to become more like old forests – providing many of the benefits of old forests sooner than they would naturally occur.

He’ll also consider how managed and unmanaged forests complement each other at the landscape level.
