Froling Energy will hold a series of weekly one hour Biomass Energy Webinars on Thursdays between February 25th and March 25th discussing different aspects of using biomass to provide reliable, cost effective heat.

The 4th webinar in this series, Recovering Energy from Biomass Flue Gas, will be held on March 18th at 10 am.

When Save Energy’s flue gas condensation technology is used in wood-fired boiler systems, the heat output of the plant can be increased by 15 to 50% (with the same amount of primary energy input).

A large amount of water evaporates during the combustion process of wood, especially in plants that burn green wood chips. The water in wood, which can be as high as 50% of its weight, must be driven off in order for the wood to burn.

It’s basic science: When water boils, it turns to steam. This basic change of state from a liquid to a vapor is quite energy-intensive and in most wood boilers all of the energy expended for this purpose is lost, up the chimney, as part of the flue gas. Save Energy’s flue gas condensation technology recovers most of this latent and sensible heat by condensing the vapors back into a liquid.

In this presentation, Roger Stahel, CEO of Save Energy, will explain the science of condensation, the technology of Save Energy’s flue gas condensers, how the systems are integrated into existing and new boiler systems and heat recovery economics. A variety of Save Energy’s system installations will be reviewed.
