The U S Forest Service’s Northern Research Station will hold a Soil Monitoring to Understand Operability and Impacts webinar on January 22nd from 2 to 3 pm EST.
Healthy soils are critical to sustainable and productive harvesting. In this webinar, we learn about the latest research on soil moisture and explore how monitoring soil moisture and disturbance to assess operability and impact can promote sustainable timber harvesting in winter.
This webinar is the second of a four-part Winter Timber Harvests in a Changing Environment webinar series, presented with the Northern Institute for Applied Climate Science (NIACS), and the Northeast and Northern Forest Climate Hubs. On Thursdays between January 15th and February 5th, webinars will explore changing winter conditions and their consequences for timber harvesting in the Northeast and Upper Midwest.
