Penn State Extension will hold two one-hour Timber Harvesting on Private Lands: What does the Public Think? webinars on January 8th at noon and 7 p.m.

Dr. Melissa M. Kreye, Assistant Professor of Private Forest Management, Penn State Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, will be discussing trends in public knowledge and attitudes towards timber harvesting on private lands in the United States.

This topic is particularly relevant considering the prevalence of family forests, and the importance of private forests in providing timber and other ecosystem service benefits, such as clean water supply and wildlife habitat. Findings indicate that the public and forest owners share many similar values about forest management and government assistance for forest owners.
