UNH Extension will hold a Winter Shrub Identification and Ecology Walk at the Malley Farm in Somersworth, NH on March 17th from 1 to 4 pm.
Matt Tarr, UNH Extension State Wildlife Specialist, and Rebecca DiGirolomo, UNH Extension Strafford County Forester, will lead this educational workshop focused on winter shrub identification and ecology at Malley Farm in Somersworth.
They will identify and discuss a wide variety of native and non-native shrubs (and tree saplings) and considerations for management of shrubland habitat.
This workshop will take place entirely outdoors so come prepared and dress for winter weather. Detailed location and parking information will be provided to registered participants.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the City of Somersworth Conservation Commission.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions: The program will be held entirely outdoors, limited to 15 participants, and social-distancing will be encouraged. Participants will be asked to stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19 in advance of a field trip.
What to Bring: Dress for being outdoors in winter conditions. Bring a snack, plenty of water, and your own snowshoes or traction devices. Bring binoculars if you have them.
