Biochar is an effective and low-cost adsorbent for PFAS molecules, and it could be used for reducing their environmental mobility.

The US Forest Service in partnership with the US Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry will hold a Biochar-based System for the Removal of PFAS Substances (PFAS) from Recycled Water webinar on December 12th from 11 am to Noon ET.

Dr. Pia Ramos from the USDA Agricultural Research Service will present her research work findings about biochar properties optimization by characterization of feedstocks, pyrolysis temperature, and post-production modification to maximize PFAS retention
