The Massachusetts Tree Farm Field Day will be held at the Townsend Rod & Gun Club in Townsend on Saturday, September 27th from 9 am to 3 pm
The club’s 267-acre woodlands have been managed as a Tree Farm since the early 1970’s. Working with foresters, the club has been very active in managing their woods over time. Complicating their management is that the club’s lands are habitat to a population of rare species which are listed as threatened under the state’s Endangered Species Act.
The Field Day will include a tour of recent work done in the club’s woodlands, a picnic lunch, and a series of short presentations on wildlife habitat, forest carbon and other information for landowners.
Cost to attend the Field Day is $20 per person.
