How do animals survive the deep chill of winter? From the enchanting to the downright gross—and from the brilliantly clever to the just plain weird—wildlife that stays active through the cold months have evolved an astonishing variety of ways to make it through.

Franklin Land Trust will hold a Wildlife Winter Survival Program at the Guyette Farm in Plainfield, MA on Wednesday, December 10th, from 10 to 11:30 am.

Naturalist Cesi Marseglia will lead a lively winter walk exploring the ingenious, species-specific survival strategies of creatures who don’t hibernate or migrate, but instead tough out the winter months. She will show tracks, clues, and adaptations that help them thrive even in the frostiest weather.

Bring binoculars and a hand lens if you have them—you never know what tiny or far-off wonders you might spot!

Who knows—you might even come away with a few winter survival tricks of your own.

If weather prevents us from holding this event on the 10th, we will reschedule to December 17th.
