States have committed to ambitious climate goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequester carbon, setting state level goals, standards, and policies to meet IPCC targets by 2030 and beyond.

Michigan State University will hold a The Reforestation Pipeline: Challenges to Nurseries and Seedlings webinar on February 4th from 3 to 4 pm ET.

As states execute their climate action plans, natural and working lands measures must both prepare our natural resources for a changing climate and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. Tree planting goals at the state level cover many different project types; from afforestation, reforestation, and restoration projects, tree plantings cover a variety of carbon sequestration opportunities across sectors and departments.

A strong nursery sector that is resilient to market conditions and able to respond to increased market demand is essential.

Ambitious state level tree-planting goals present an opportunity to build sustainable markets, partnerships, and supply chains that will increase production of saplings to fully meet the restoration demand and carbon sequestration need.
