Timber taxes encompass the federal and state tax rules that apply when you own, manage, or sell timber or timberland.  Understanding both the forestry specific provisions and the general tax rules that affect your management activities can significantly reduce your overall tax liability through strategic planning.

Southern Regional Extension Forestry will hold An Overview of Timber Taxes webinar on February 11th at 1 pm ET

Tax planning becomes even more critical when a natural disaster strikes. Storms, wildfires, and other catastrophic events can damage or destroy timber, and the tax implications of that loss can be complex.

In this webinar, Dr. Yanshu Li, Forest Economics and Taxation Outreach Specialist at the University of Georgia, will give an overview of timber taxes including tax considerations of natural disaster related timber damage and recovery efforts.

In this webinar, Dr. Li will provide an overview of timber taxation, with a special focus on how natural disaster related timber damage, losses, and recovery efforts are treated under current tax law.
