Who doesn’t love the idea of producing their own maple syrup?

The New Jersey Forestry Association will hold a Maple Sugaring Project webinar on March 19th from 7 to 8:30 pm.

The Stockton University Maple Project is a USDA sponsored grant initiative researching maple syrup production. With grant support, modern technologies are employed on the Stockton campus to tap red maples – plentiful in Southern New Jersey – which have lower sugar content and more limited productive periods than sugar maples. The initial tapping began in 2021.

Dr. Judith Vogel will explore the project’s details, outcomes to-date, expansion of the project to support traditional tapping on private woodland properties, and how lessons learned can lead to more agroforestry, education, sustainability and economic development on underutilized forest resources.
