Birds don’t just need trees. They need forests with food, shelter, nesting cover, and the right structure to support them through every season, from migratory warblers passing through in spring to chickadees that call our woods home year-round.

Mass DCR will hold a Healthy Forests and Habitat Workshop at the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary in Wales, MA on Saturday, May 23rd from 8:30 to 10 am.

Better habitat starts with better forest stewardship.

Join Jeff Ritterson, Mass Audubon ornithologist, and Jacob Seidel, DCR Service Forester, for a guided workshop exploring how forest management shapes bird habitat.

The workshop will begin with a brief indoor presentation, then head outside for birdwatching along Norcross’s trails to see how silviculture is applied to enhance bird habitat.

What to expect:

  • Morning indoor presentation
  • A guided outdoor walk and birdwatching in the woods
