Caring for your land takes many forms, and for forest landowners this often includes planning and carrying out a sustainable timber harvest.

The Mass Forest Alliance and The Nature Conservancy will hold a Considering a Timber Harvest webinar, to explain the timber harvest process on July 27th from 6 to 7 pm

The webinar will be presented by experienced Massachusetts foresters Charlie Thompson and Fred Heyes.

Topics covered in this webinar will include landowner considerations, equipment commonly used in harvesting, and management goals such as producing firewood or to attracting migratory bird species.

Charlie Thompson is a resident of Pelham, MA, and a licensed forester in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In addition to his state licenses, he is a Society of American Foresters Certified Forester and a forest landowner in both Hampshire and Franklin Counties. He is co-author of Working with your Woodland and contributing author to More than a Woodlot.

Fred Heyes is owner of Heyes Forest Products in Orange.  Fred’s forest-based business utilizes timber harvested from his own professionally and sustainably managed forests, marketing products and building barns and homes using the lumber from his sawmill.
