The Northeast Silviculture Institute for Foresters, Dartmouth College, and UVM will hold an Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change Enriches Bird Communities webinar on August 19th from Noon to 1 pm

Surveys of breeding birds across the three ASCC treatments (resistance, resilience, and transition) and control (no action) plots were done in 2023 and 2024.

The surveys showed only one of 22 mature forest species was most abundant in control plots and all 4 shrubland bird species were most abundant in treated stands. It appears the ASCC treatments maintain or even benefit all forest bird species, while at the same time create habitat for shrubland species.
