The Northern Forest Center uses a “wood-first” approach to building rehabilitation and new construction.
They use their housing projects to support forest stewardship and the regional forest economy wherever possible.
The Northern Forest Center will hold an A Wood-First Approach to Building Rehabilitation & Construction webinar on January 27th at Noon ET.
Center staff will share the practical implications of implementing this strategy in our projects across the region – how we are using new or reclaimed wood products for structures, heating, insulation, flooring, and siding, and what challenges we’ve encountered.
They will also share how they’ve calculated the carbon benefits of this approach for a historic rehabilitation project in Maine.
The panel for this webinar includes Center staff leading these projects:
– Maura Adams, Director of Community of Investment
– Kendall Gray, Program Manager
– Leslie Karasin, Adirondack Program Director
– Amy Scott, Maine Program Manager
– Facilitated by Isabella Ronson-Amrein, Program Manager
