Vermont Land Trust is holding a series of 30-minute Tree Identification webinars on Tuesdays this winter that will help participants identify different tree species, discuss the possible climate futures of those trees, and explain ways to manage them to promote and protect the special values they bring to Vermont’s forests.
The third webinar on February 28th at noon, presented by VLT forester Caitlin Cusack, will use photos to show you how to distinguish between ash and basswood and their look-alikes. Often found growing together on calcium-rich sites, we’ll look at what the future may hold for these two species and the other trees they commonly grow with as our climate continues to shift.
