Women on the Land will also hold an Ash Preservation and Forest Management in Response to Emerald Ash Borer Field Tour in New Salem, MA on Saturday, October 24th from 10 am to Noon.
This webinar and field tour will explore ash trees, their ecological and cultural significance, and management approaches in the face of emerald ash borer.
The webinar, presented by Joelle Vautour, is based on the publication: Managing Northeastern Forests Threatened by Emerald Ash Borer.
The Field Tour will visit a Monitoring and Managing Ash (MaMA) citizen science plot in New Salem, Massachusetts. DCR Forester Helen Johnson will explain how the project works towards identifying lingering ash trees to support conservation efforts. We’ll apply lessons from the webinar in the field and engage in discussion with each other.
