Balancing Carbon, Forest Health & Other Goals webinar

With the rise in forest carbon programs, the focus of some forest managers has shifted towards extending harvest rotations and focusing management on carbon sequestration at the cost of other considerations.

Penn State Extension will hold a Balancing Carbon, Forest Health & Other Goals webinar on March 18^th from 8 to 9:15 am EST.

During this webinar, Anthony D’Amato from the University of Vermont will explain how forest managers can think about maintaining functioning forests while meeting multiple goals like storing carbon, creating wildlife habitat, and forest health.

What will participants learn?

•  The trade-offs when managing forests solely for one purpose
• The need to manage forests forest for multiple goals and how to think about doing it
• The need from the climate, wildlife, and society for foresters to practice climate-smart silviculture
