Is the beer you drink fermented in a wooden barrel?  Lumber for barrel making is used world wide to make casks and barrels to age wine, whiskey and beer. Northwoods Brewing Company is the first brewery to use barrels manufactured with American beech from New Hampshire.  This was made possible through the support of the New England Society of American Foresters.

UNH Extension and Northwoods Brewing Company will hold an online program on Barrel Aged Beers in New Hampshire on December 10th at 7:00pm

In this program, Ron Raiselis of R.P Raiselis Cooperage will discuss creating beer casks by hand and see how this historic craft is still done today.  We will learn about this potential emerging market for the local forest industry from Andy Fast of the UNH Extension.  Finally, we will be guided through the session by Cheryl of the UNH brewery and Cathi Frakes and Ian Goering of Northwoods Brewing Company on barrel aged beer creation, tasting, and food pairing.   Learn more about the results of that process as you explore the world of barrel aged beer.

Cost of this workshop is $5.00
