Curious how active management of a forest can increase diversity and maintain forest health?
This year DCR-DWSP staff will offer several public walks through the Quabbin and Ware River watershed forests focusing on how we manage our forests to promote forest health, new growth, varied wildlife habitat and watershed protection.
The Mass DCR Division of Water Supply Protection will hold an Barrens Habitat Restoration on Barre Heathland walk on Saturday, July 15th from 9 to 11 am.
This moderate 1 mile walk will examine how forest management and prescribed fire programs can support rare plant and animal habitats.
To take part in this program, register at: Watershed Protection Forestry Walk: Barrens Habitat Restoration on Barre Heathland (smartsheet.com)
The tour will meet at the intersection of Route 62 and Barre Road in Hubbardston and proceed to the walk site from there.
