UNH Extension will hold a Spring Wildlife Habitat Workshop on Birds of Forests, Wetlands, Fields & Transmission line Rights of Way on Thursday, June 3rd from 8 to 11 am at Distant Hill Gardens in Walpole, NH.

Matt Tarr, Extension’s State Wildlife Specialist, Steven Lemonde of Antioch University and Michael Nerrie of Distant Hill Gardens will lead a leisurely walk to identify birds by sight & sound in a variety of habitats that have been managed to encourage a diversity of wildlife.

Topics will include:

  • Bird ecology and how to maintain the habitats we visit to support a variety of bird and other wildlife species.
  • The role of invasive plants as habitat.
  • Monitoring wildlife response to shrub management in transmission line rights-of-way.
