Forests are an important resource in sequestering atmospheric carbon to combat global warming in the U. S.

The Ecological Landscape Alliance will hold a one-hour Capturing Carbon with Trees webinar on September 18th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.

Dr. Christopher Woodall of the U.S. Forest Service’s Center for Research on Ecosystem Change,  will discuss how forested rural area carbon assessment is done in the US. He will discuss how these assessments suggest that forests currently offset more than 10% of carbon dioxide associated with fossil fuel emissions every year. Because forests and trees in developed landscapes sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide through growth and expansion, their management and growth could play an important role in the ability of the US to reach net zero emissions.
