Vermont Woodlands Association will hold a Caring for Your Woods Workshop for Landowners at the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Park in Woodstock, VT on Saturday, June 6th from 10 am to 2 pm.

This hands-on workshop offers a practical introduction to woodland stewardship. Walk the woods, learn what to look for on your land, and explore the basics of forest health and wildlife habitat. You’ll leave with a

clearer understanding of your woods and next steps you can take with confidence. Lunch included.

No prior experience or knowledge is needed—just curiosity and an interest in getting to know your land.

Cost $20 including lunch

9:30 am — Check-In & Coffee

9:45–10:30 am — “5 Things Every Woodland Owner Should Know” — Dan Healey, VT County Forester

10:30–10:45 am — Transition to Walks

10:45–11:30 am— Woods Walk 

11:45–12:30 pm— Woods Walk  (Walk # 1 participants do Walk # 2,, and vice versa)

12:30–1:30 pm— Lunch & Informal Discussion (programs, cost-share, and other resources)

1:30 pm  Safe Travels

Woods walk topics include:

  • Walk #1: Getting to know the forest  through a forester’s eyes with Dan Healey, VT County Forester

Walk#2: Wildlife habitat, tracking, and trail cameras, with NPS staff
