Red cockaded woodpecker (RCW) was first listed as an endangered species in 1970 after substantial population declines largely attributed to habitat loss and fragmentation. Red cockaded woodpeckers have a unique life history that presents significant silvicultural and management challenges. After decades of intensive efforts from partners across the landscape, RCW was downlisted to threatened status in 2024.
The U S Fish & Wildlife Service will hold a Collaborative Conservation: Successes, Challenges and Building Trust webinar on Tuesday, December 16th from Noon to 1:30 pm ET.
