UNH Extension will hold an Emerald Ash Borer Field Workshop on Saturday, March 20th, from 10 to 11:30 am at the Lee Town Forest in Lee, NH

Emerald ash borer (EAB) is an extremely destructive invasive insect that attacks ash trees. It was first found in New Hampshire in 2013 and is now well established in the southeastern part of the state.

Strafford County Forester Rebecca DiGirolomo, UNH Forestry Professor Emeritus Don Quigley, NH Division of Forests and Lands, Forest Health Specialist, Bill Davidson, and Lee Conservation Commission member, Anne Tappan, will provide an educational workshop focused on learning ash tree identification and signs of EAB damage.

The workshop will begin as a group for an update on the status of EAB in NH. Participants will then break off into smaller groups with the four instructors and hike a short distance into the town forest to identify and survey ash trees for EAB.

In event of snow, the workshop will be postponed until March 27th at the same time

This event is sponsored by the UNH Cooperative Extension, Town of Lee Conservation Commission, and NH Division of Forest and Lands.

Due to COVID 19, space is limited to 20 participants and pre-registration is required. Additional information on the location and where to park will be provided upon registration.
