As cities become more densely populated and our society grapples with pressing housing challenges, the concept of micro housing and tiny homes has gained traction as a potential solution for those who seek sustainable, simpler and affordable lifestyle.

The Building & Construction Technology Program at UMass- Amherst will hold an Exploring Tiny Homes & Micro Housing program at the Olver Design Building, Room 170 on October 7th from 4 to 5:15 pm.

In this program, Douglas Smith, founder of Beechwood Tiny Homes, will explore the concept of micro housing and tiny homes, designs using software, how to build them according to the IRC codes and their potential impacts, challenges with zoning regulations and infrastructural requirements.
