The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions will hold a free Learn at Lunch webinar on Forest Carbon: An Essential Natural Solution for Climate Change, on January 15th from noon to 1 pm.

Forests can play a critical role in reducing the effects of climate change. There is growing debate about the most appropriate strategy to maximize this benefit. This presentation by Extension Forester Paul Catanzaro will cover the role carbon plays within forests, the impacts and trade-offs of land-use options on forest carbon, and specific carbon-informed forest management strategies to help maintain carbon storage during a timber harvest.

Catanzaro and University of Vermont professor Anthony D’Amato recently released a new 26-page publication on this topic.
