The Department of Conservation & Recreation will hold a series of morning Forest Health Field Walks at state parks & forests around Massachusetts on Fridays in June and July.
At each walk DCR foresters will discuss current forest health concerns in Massachusetts. Participants will learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of common forest pests and diseases, as well as, management options and mitigation techniques.
Topics will include beech leaf disease, spongy moth, emerald ash borer, southern pine beetle, eastern white pine decline, hemlock woolly adelgid and Elongate hemlock scale. Enjoy a hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with forest health experts.
Participants should come prepared to spend two hours in the outdoors, walking over varied terrain.

June 16 Beartown State Forest — Monterey 9am-11am
June 23 Rutland State Park — Rutland 9am-11am
July 7 Wompatuck State Park – Hingham 9am-11am
July 14 Bradley Palmer State Park – Topsfield 9am-11am
July 21 Mt Tom State Reservation – Holyoke 9am-11am
July 28 Myles Standish State Forest – Carver 9am-11am
