UNH Cooperative Extension will hold a Forestry Tour at the Primack woodlands in Epping, NH on October 28th from 3 to 5 pm.
To cut or not to cut, stewardship, and being a good neighbor are all things considered by landowner Phil Primack, and forester Charlie Merino when coming up with a plan for Phil’s woodlands.
Phil, Charlie, Greg Jordan, Rockingham County Forester, and “neighbor” Connor Breton, Forest & Wildlife Habitat Manager, SELT, will lead a tour of the areas managed to regenerate the forest, to improve forest health, or to “leave things as they are” in no cut zones. Participants will be able to compare an area that was just harvested for the very first time with an area that’s been harvested three times in the last 30+ years. Cultural features and a surprise “quiz” round out the tour.
Participants should bring sturdy shoes and layered clothing for hiking in the woods.
Cost of this program is $15 for NHTOA members, $25 for non-members.
