Fundamentals of Forestry workshop

UNH Extension will hold two Fundamentals of Forestry workshops for loggers, one on April 20^th  at Fox State Forest in Hillsborough and another on April 22^nd at Kennebec Lumber in Wentworth.

These workshops will give loggers a better understanding of forest management and appropriate applications of silviculture.

Course content includes discussion/PowerPoints on historical events influencing forests, current status of New Hampshire forests, Silvicultural principles of New England, Forest types, landowner goals and objectives, tree growth/maturity/vigor, forest regeneration, wildlife habitat, harvesting systems, and loggers’ function in silviculture.

Field sessions will focus on forest management on a tract recently harvested at Fox Forest on April 20 and will include a tour of Kennebec Lumber on April 22.

Bring your own lunch and plenty of water.

Cost of these workshops is $75 for NHTOA members, $125 for non-members
