Temperate old-growth forests are found globally in both the northern and southern hemispheres, sharing many unique characteristics but also exhibiting fascinating differences.

Yale Forest Forum will hold A Global Perspective on Temperate Old-Growth Forest Ecology, Conservation, and Restoration online program on August 29th from Noon to 1 pm.

In this talk, Professor William Keeton from the University of Vermont will take the audience on a virtual tour of old-growth systems around the world.  The talk will explore contemporary notions of “old-growthedness” on multiple continents, highlighting current efforts to map, conserve, and restore complex old forests.  A focus will be the distinctly different approaches in Europe and N. America and the importance of recent scientific exchanges intended to bridge this divide.

This program is part of a weekly Conserving Mature and Old-Growth Forests in a Changing Climate webinar series Yale Forest Forum is holding this fall with a variety of speakers to share how they are responding to and shaping the discussion on mature and old-growth forests

The series will be held Thursdays from August 29 to December 5 from 12:00 -12:55 pm U.S. ET.
