From providing winter cover for deer and other wildlife to shading woodland streams, eastern hemlock play an important role in our forests.

Vermont Woodlands Association will hold a Hemlock Wooly Adelgid Up Close and Personal Woods Walk at Jamaica State Park in Jamaica, VT on April 29th from 9 to 11 am.

On this walk, Sam Schenski, County Forester, and Brian Renfro, State Lands Forester, will discuss the impacts of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, an invasive, aphid-like insect that attacks hemlock trees.

They will discuss signs and symptoms of HWA and various management strategies being used to help keep eastern hemlock on the landscape into the future.
