The New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association will hold a Hemlock Workshop at the University of New Hampshire sawmill in Durham on February 10th.

 Lectures will focus on the wide variety of wildlife benefits provided by Eastern Hemlock (food sources and thermal cover/nesting), followed by an indoor milling demonstration and forest products discussion about Hemlock timber products.  

Additional topics will include the biology and history of the species, as well as potential impacts on Hemlock of the Woolly Adelgid.

 Faculty for this Landowner Class includes:

                           Robert Cooke, Forest Health Protection, U.S. Forest Service

                           Steve Eisenhaure, UNH Woodlands Manager

                           Don Quigley, UNH Thompson School, and 

                           Matt Tarr from UNH Extension.

The workshop will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be held at the UNH Sawmill – 248 Mast Road, Durham, N.H.

Cost of the workshop is $25 for NHTOA members, $30 for non-members.
