As Vermont’s climate continues to change, the effects on our forests are becoming more visible—and more urgent. Shifts in temperature, precipitation patterns, and the frequency of extreme weather events are all challenging the way we care for our woodlands.

Vermont Woodlands Association and UVM Forestry will hold a Keeping Your Woods Healthy in an Unpredictable Future workshop at the Jericho Research Forest in Jericho, Vermont on Friday, May 16th from 9 am to 3:30 pm.

Join us for a one of two full-day workshops at Jericho Research Forest, where we’ll explore how forest stewards—landowners, foresters, and conservation professionals—can adapt to these changes and support long-term forest resilience.

Led by Dr. Tony D’Amato (University of Vermont), Dr. Ali Kosiba (Extension Forester), and other regional experts, the day will include presentations, field discussions, and hands-on learning focused on:

  • How climate change is affecting forest health in Vermont
  • Strategies for climate-adaptive forest management
  • Tools and resources available to landowners and professionals
  • Real-world examples of resilience-focused stewardship in action

Whether you’re managing a small woodlot or advising landowners across the region, this workshop will provide actionable insights to help navigate an unpredictable future while keeping Vermont’s forests healthy, diverse, and productive.

Registration is $20, and includes a bagged lunch.
