Drying lumber is a necessary step for using lumber in most applications. While there are several reasons to dry lumber before using it, one of the main reasons is that it allows most of the shrinkage to take place before a product is made of the lumber.
Penn State Extension will hold Kiln Drying of Hardwood Lumber Short Course at the Livestock Evaluation Center in Pennsylvania Furnace, PA on September 10th to 12th from 8:30 am to 5 pm
This introductory short course is designed to enable participants to dry hardwood lumber to maximize product quality and value.
It has been said that drying hardwood lumber is both an art and a science and the Kiln Drying of Hardwood Lumber Short Course is designed to provide the basic knowledge needed to be an effective dry kiln operator. No previous drying experience or training is necessary.
Participants in this three-day short course will learn to dry hardwood lumber efficiently and with minimal defects.
