Mass timber buildings are a powerful strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment due to the material’s low embodied carbon and biogenic carbon storage.
Wood Works will hold a Mass Timber, Embodied Carbon and Cost Implications webinar on December 11th from 1 to 2 pm ET.
This presentation by Erin Kinder of WoodWorks and Alexis Feitel & Anli Ni of KL&A Engineers & Builders will provide an overview of how wood can reduce embodied carbon emissions, including how to measure and compare carbon emissions using whole building life cycle assessment (WBLCA) and the importance of biogenic carbon.
The presentation will also review the Mass Timber Comparative Life Cycle Assessment Series, which explores the embodied carbon, cost, and speed of construction implications of mass timber buildings versus functionally equivalent steel or concrete buildings across four studies.
