Protecting soils in our forests is critically important for the growth of trees and the health of our natural environment.

Healthy soils and how to keep them that way are the focus of the Massachusetts Forest Soils workshop that will be held at the Athol Public Library on Thursday, November 7th.

The workshop will consist of morning presentations at the Athol Public Library, a provided boxed lunch, and an afternoon field tour at Bearsden Conservation Area in Athol to explore concepts presented in the morning in a real-world setting.

The workshop will be presented rain or shine on Thursday, November 7 from 9 am – 3 pm.

The workshop is free, however, space is limited.  Please be sure you will attend before registering.

Continuing education credits will be available – Massachusetts Forester and Timber Harvester credits have been applied for and are pending approval.

The workshop is being sponsored by Mass DCR, NRCS, the USDA Forest Service, the Forest Alliance and the Massachusetts Woodlands Institute.
