The Early Conservation Career Network will hold a Mindful Birding Walk at the Thomas & Palmer Brook Reserve in Great Barrington on Friday, September 4th from 9 am to Noon.

Educator and birder Dave Edson will guide an experience centered on intentional observation and connection with nature. The reserve, managed by the Berkshire Natural Resources Council, features a diverse mix of meadow, wetland, and forest habitats that support a wide variety of birdlife throughout the seasons.

We’ll begin by walking along BNRC’s accessible meadow loop trail, then we will plan to hike uphill toward Whale Rock, a unique geologic feature at the top of the reserve. The total length of the trails is just over 2 miles, out and back.

Please register for the event as space will be limited to 15 attendees. The hike is moderate difficulty and appropriate hiking footwear, later-summer attire, bug spray, sunscreen, and water are recommended. Please bring binoculars if you have them. This event will be canceled with roughly 24 hours’ notice in case of heavy rain or thunderstorms.
