The Massachusetts Statewide Wood Energy Team (SWET) will hold a free Modern Wood Heating Technology Tour on Wednesday, November 18th from 1 to 4 pm EST.
On the tour, participants can see modern wood heating systems using dried wood chip fuel, and see how the chips are manufactured. You’ll learn about the economic and carbon benefits of switching to modern wood heat from fossil fuels, and learn how the wood fuel can be purchased.
The tour will begin at Flat Rock Farm in Chesterfield, where we’ll see a system in operation and learn more about the technology. Then we will travel (in your own vehicles) to TTC Energy in Windsor, the fuel manufacturer, to learn about the process to create dried wood chips. Finally, we’ll head down the street to Holiday Brook Farm in Dalton, where a dried wood chip system heats a number of farm buildings in a district heating system.
Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required. Much of the tour will be outdoors, and attendees will rotate through indoor spaces.
Due to state event guidelines, attendance will be limited and registration is required – please do not show up without registering.
