The Northeastern Logger’s Association (NELA) will hold the Northeastern Forest Products Equipment Expo at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont on May 3rd & 4th.
This year’s Expo will include more than 100 exhibiting companies from firewood processors and portable sawmills to large forestry equipment dealers that showcase the latest CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, Tigercat models, and more. There will also be exhibitors from a variety of lumber mills and specialty parts and accessories companies.
Events at Loggers’ Expo include the Weiler Loader Competition, which pits experienced machine operators against each other in a timed log loading challenge (all proceeds go to Log A Load For Kids), and performances by the Axe Women Loggers of Maine, where world champion female logging sports athletes—a team of choppers, sawyers, logrollers and axe throwers—put their awe-inspiring lumberjill skills on display. There will also be a variety of refreshments and meals available from food stands, and visitors can purchase Northern Logger merchandise at the Northern Logger store.
The Expo will also include 3 educational seminars:
Mental Models for Work in the Woods – Steve Bick, Vermont Forest Business School, May 3 at 10 am
Slash Walls: Improving Forest Regeneration and Construction Methods – Peter Smallidge & Brett Chedzoy, Cornell Extension – May 3rd at 1 pm
How Health Affects Your Business & Beyond – Erika Scott, Northeast Center for Occupational Health & Safety – May 4th, 10 am
Each seminar has a fee of $10 per person which will be donated to Log A Load For Kids.
Registration for the Expo is $10 per person and includes admission both days. Admission is free for kids under age 16. Pre-registration for the show is highly encouraged.
