Vermont Woodlands Association will hold a Patch Cuts for Wildlife and Forest Resiliency Tour at Foxglove Farm in Leicester, VT on January 31st from Noon to 2 pm.
County Forester, Mark Raishart, will lead this exploration of patch cuts and forest management in action on Foxglove Farm. He will examine how patch cutting has been used on the land and see the results of this work in different stages.
The tour will also visit the farm’s sugarbush to discuss diverse goals on the property which include maple syrup production, timber harvesting, wildlife habitat, flood reduction and water quality, recreation and hunting, biodiversity, and carbon storage.
We will end the walk at the sugarhouse for refreshments.
Participant should plan for ½ mile of walking on uneven and wet terrain.
