The 4,000+ wild bee species in the US are mostly solitary, don’t live in hives or make honey. In addition to wildflowers, they provide key pollination for our favorite fruits, nuts, and vegetables.

The New Jersey Forestry Association will hold a Pollinators: Wild Bees in Woody Habitats webinar on April 17th from from 7 to 8:30 pm.

In the northeast, 2/3 of our wild bee species use forested habitats for part of their life cycles. Did you know that bumble bees actually love nesting in the forest? That apple orchard pollinators collect forest canopy pollen before the orchards bloom?

Dr. Urban-Mead from the Xerces Society will take us on an adventure exploring how wild bees use the woods – from the forest floor to the canopy – and discuss forest stewardship for pollinators.
