The University of Maryland Extension will hold a Shallow Water Wetlands and How to Manage them for Waterfowl webinar on July 19th from Noon to 1 pm EDT
Chase Colmorgan of Ducks Unlimited will discuss shallow water wetlands and how to manage them for waterfowl.
The presentation will introduce different management and restoration techniques used to benefit waterfowl and wading birds that use shallow water wetlands. Management would include the benefits of moist soil management versus a plant and flood system and some brief management on wooded wetland management.
Chase will also talk about restoration potential for ag fields, what he typically looks for, and potential programs available for landowners if they are interested.
Time permitting, he will touch on some broad waterfowl information and population dynamics.
